Sahara
The VIP of the week is Sahara. Sahara likes daisys, math and the color purple. She enjoys Saturdays, soccer and Christmas. Sara is her friend. Have a great week Sahara!
It's conference week! All week long I will be meeting with parents and children to discuss their progress. Please bring along any questions you may have for me and I will do my best to answer them!
In math we are continuing with multiplication. On Monday we made flash cards for the hard 6 and 7 facts. This week we will be learning the 8s and the 9s. I can't wait to show the kids the cool 9s trick!
In reading we are continuing with The Talking Cloth. On Monday we learned why it's a realistic fiction story. Realistic fiction meanas it's not real, but it could happen. We had a fun time guessing if our neighbors were telling us real stories or realistic fiction ones. On Tuesday and Thursday we will be reading the story outloud. On Wednesday, we are taking our Benchmark exam. It's great practice for the big test in May.
In writing we are continuing with our paragraph about our Halloween costume or favorite outfit. Has your child told you about their paragraph?
Because of our short days this week, we were only able to do one grammar lesson. It was a fun one though! Each child paired up with a neighbor. They then wrote their own sentences and divided them into the subject and predicate. After that we split the sentences and mixxed them up. Each pair got someone else's subject and predicate. We got some pretty wild sentences!
Unfortunately, we are unable to do American history this week. The good news is the kids are done with their posters. Next week they will begin presenting their posters to the class. It should be a lot of fun!
Please remember that by next week the kids should memorize their poems and create a visual to go with them. We've had really awesome visuals in the past and I can't wait to see them this year!
