Caden

The VIP of the week is Caden. Caden's favorite numbers are 1, 5, and 10, animal is a white tiger, and day of the week is Saturday. He likes Christmas, Halloween, and roses. John Wolfe is his friend. Have a great week Caden!

This week in math we are continuing with multiplication. We are really focusing on learning 6, 7, 8, and 9. It's really important that your child memorizes their multiplication facts.

In reading we are starting the story The Talking Cloth. This is a great story about a child learning the importance of her heritage. Please check out this site for more information about the story. This site is good for finding activities to go along with The Talking Cloth.

In writing we are continuing with our paragraphs about our Halloween costume or our favorite outfit. The kids get to choose which one they want to write about.

In grammar we are beginning with subjects and predicates. Every sentence can be divided into two parts: the subject and the predicate.
Example:
My cat sleeps all day.
The subject is - My cat
The predicate is - sleeps all day.
I've been teaching the kids that the subject is what the sentence is about and the predicate is from the verb to the end. This is very helpful for the kids. Here are some more examples:

My sister / likes to eat.
His mom / is very nice.
My uncle / ran a marathon.

In social studies we are continuing with our American History posters. On Thursday we will be finishing them just in time to share with the class next Wednesday and Thursday.

Please don't forget that the kids should be memorizing a poem to present to the class in two weeks. I can't wait to see their visual!
