Mary
The VIP of the week is Mary. Mary likes lions and sunflowers. Her favorite day of the week is Friday and time of day is six o'clock. She enjoys math, the number ten, and the color white. Have a great week Mary!
This week in math we are working with money. On Monday we found equivalent sets of money and then we compared them. The hardest part of our money unit is making change. It is a very difficult concept for our young kids. If they don't understand it now, they have years ahead of them before they have to really 'put it into practice'!
In language arts we began a new unit about celebrating traditions. On Tuesday we talked about what traditions we celebrate with our families and friends. Please share what tradtions are important to you with your child. We also began the story The Keeping Quilt. This story is about a family that has passed a quilt down from generation to generation. The quilt holds a very special place in everyone's lives. Check out this site for great ideas of how to bring the story home.
In grammar we are continuing with adjectives. On Wednesday we created a fun poster titled 'A Shower of Adjectives.' We though of a lot of great words to describe ourselves and then created a rainshower with it. They will be on display in our room if you want to check them out.
I will not be at school on Thursday of this week because I have doctor's appointments that I can't reschedule. Hopefully (!!) this will be the last day I will have to take off for a while.
