Cheyanne

The VIP of the week is Cheyanne. Cheyanne's favorite number is 19, school subject is art and time of day is dawn. She likes Sponge Bob, Christmas, and limos. Her friends are Carly, Tiffany and Mary. Have a great week Cheyanne!

Last week we spent a good amount of time going over the rules and making our class our own. This week we are really getting into third grade.

In math we are working on place value. We will be working with numbers up to 10,000. We will be covering standard form, expanded form and word form. Here is an example of each of these forms:
standard form: 539
expanded form: 500 + 30 + 9
word form: Five hundred thirty-nine
Please be there to help your child if they are having any troubles.

In language arts, we are beginning the story The Lost and Found. Our vocabulary words are directions, rumpled, situations, unusual, visible and worried. Our phonics are the short vowel sounds. We are beginning with descriptive writing. We will be working on a paragraph about our classroom.

In grammar we are focusing on complete sentences. The students will be fixing sentences that do not make any sense and creating their own 'incomplete' sentences.

In science we are continuing with plants. Last week we learned what plants need to survive. This week we will be working with the plant's structure. We can't wait to show you what we've done at Open House in a few weeks!

Meet Your Teacher

Ever wanted to know more about your teacher? Well here is your chance. Beware, some of the photos may shock you or cause your side to split.

Mrs. Knight grew up in Placerville, California. She grew up with lots of animals such as dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, cows, and she had a rabbit once too.

She still loves animals. She has three cats: Tweak, Biff and Allie.

Her newest pet is her dog Scooter.

Adriane Knight was married in the summer of 2004 to Tony Knight.

They love to do things together. Mrs. Knight can be adventurous as long as Mr. Knight is with her.

She likes to travel and go to school.

She also loves to win!

Adriane hates onions.

If you're lucky Mrs. Knight will dress up and act silly just for a laugh.

One of Mrs. Knight's favorite things to do is hang out with her family and friends. They always have a fun time together.

The one things Mrs. Knight loves to do more than anything is teach. She loves hanging out with kids, teaching them new things and having a great time.

I hope you liked getting to know your teacher. I also hope you have a wonderful year with her. She will teach you all kinds of things. Some of them will be easy and some things will be harder. Just remember, if you ever have any questions just ask her. She was a kid once too.
